Docetaxel
An antineoplastic. An antimitotic agent that promotes the assembly of microtublules and inhibits their depolymerization to free tubulin. Docetaxel is of the chemotherapy drug class; taxane, and is a semi-synthetic analogue of paclitaxel (Taxol), an extract from the bark of the rare Pacific yew tree Taxus brevifolia. Due to scarcity of paclitaxel, extensive research was carried out leading to the formulation of docetaxel - an esterified product of 10-deacetyl baccatin III, which is extracted from the renewable and more readily available leaves of the European yew tree. Group: Biochemicals. Alternative Names: Docecad; N-debenzoyl-N-tert-butoxycarbonyl-10-deacetyltaxol; NSC 628503; RP 56976; Taxoltere metro; docetaxol; Taxotere. Grades: Highly Purified. Doramectin is a biosynthetic avermectin derived from a mutant of the original Streptomyces avermitilis strain supplemented with a cyclohexylcaboxylic acid starting unit. Doramectin was developed as an anthelmintic for internal parasite control. The presence of the cyclohexyl group replacing the sec-butyl moiety affords greater hydrophobicity and longer biological half-life compared to avermectin. Like the other milbemycin / avermectins, it selectively binds to parasite glutamate-gated chloride ion channels and disrupts neurotransmission leading to paralysis and death of the parasite. Group: Biochemicals. Alternative Names: 25-Cyclohexyl-5-O-demethyl-25-de (1-methylpropyl) avermectin A1A; 25-Cylohexyl-avermectin B1; UK-67994; Dectomax. Grades: Highly Purified. CAS No. 117704-25-3. Doxorubicin (Adriamycin, 14-Hydroxydaunomycin)
Doxorubicin is the most extensively studied of a family of highly fluorescent anthracycline antibiotics produced by several Streptomyces species, first reported in 1967 and later approved for human therapeutic use as an antitumor agent for the treatment of a wide range of cancers. Doxorubicin has also been reported to exhibit anti-HIV and antibacterial activity. The mode of action of doxorubicin is thought to be due to intercalation of DNA and inhibition of nucleic acid synthesis. Group: Biochemicals. Grades: Highly Purified. CAS No. 23214-92-8. Pack Sizes: 25mg. US Biological Life Sciences.
The hydrochloride salt of doxorubicin, an anthracycline antibiotic with antineoplastic activity. Doxorubicin, isolated from the bacterium Streptomyces peucetius var. caesius, is the hydroxylated congener of daunorubicin. Doxorubicin intercalates between base pairs in the DNA helix, thereby preventing DNA replication and ultimately inhibiting protein synthesis. Additionally, doxorubicin inhibits topoisomerase II which results in an increased and stabilized cleavable enzyme-DNA linked complex during DNA replication and subsequently prevents the ligation of the nucleotide strand after double-strand breakage. Doxorubicin also forms oxygen free radicals resulting in cytotoxicity secondary to lipid peroxidation of cell membrane lipids; the formation of oxygen free radicals also contributes to the toxicity of the anthracycline antibiotics, namely the cardiac and cutaneous vascular effects. Group: Biochemicals. Alternative Names: Adriacin, Adriblastina, Adriamycin, Caelyx. Grades: Highly Purified. CAS No. 25316-40-9. Pack Sizes: 25mg, 100mg, 250mg. US Biological Life Sciences.

Doxycycline Monohydrate (Vibramycin)
Doxycycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic synthetically derived from oxytetracycline. It is a semi-synthetic tetracycline. Doxycycline penetrates the bacterial cell and interferes with the protein biosynthesis, stopping the process. Other microorganisms are also sensitive to the antibiotic activity of Doxycycline, such as Mycoplasma, Chlamydia and Ricketsiae. Resistance to antibiotics of the tetracycline family is primarily due to inhibition of transport of the drug into the cell or by increasing antibiotic efflux. The biological mechanism is mainly through plasmid mediation but it may also occur by chromossomal alteration. Group: Biochemicals. Alternative Names: a-6-deoxy-5-hydroxytetracycline monohydrate; Vibramycin. Grades: Molecular Biology Grade. CAS No. 17086-28-1. Pack Sizes: 10g, 25g, 100g. US Biological Life Sciences.
