L-arabinose isomerase Requires a divalent metal ion (the enzyme from the bacterium Escherichia coli prefers Mn2+). The enzyme binds the closed form of the sugar and catalyses ring opening to generate a form of open-chain conformation that facilitates the isomerization reaction, which proceeds via an ene-diol mechanism. O2 can be replaced by fumarate as electron acceptor, yielding succinate. lavandulyl diphosphate synthase Lavandulyl diphosphate is a monoterpene with a non-head-to-tail linkage. It is unlike most monoterpenoids, which are derived from geranyl diphosphate and have isoprene units that are linked head-to-tail. When this enzyme is incubated with dimethylallyl diphosphate and isopentenyl diphosphate, it also forms the regular monoterpene geranyl diphosphate. L-cysteate sulfo-lyase A pyridoxal-phosphate protein. The enzyme cleaves a carbon-sulfur bond, releasing hydrogensulfite and an unstable enamine product that tautomerizes to an imine form, which undergoes a hydrolytic deamination to form pyruvate and ammonia. L-cysteine desulfidase The enzyme from the archaeon Methanocaldococcus jannaschii contains a [4Fe-4S] cluster and is specific for L-cysteine (cf. EC 4.4.1.1, cystathionine γ-lyase). leukotriene-A4 hydrolase This is a bifunctional zinc metalloprotease that displays both epoxide hydrolase and aminopeptidase activities. It preferentially cleaves tripeptides at an arginyl bond, with dipeptides and tetrapeptides being poorer substrates (see EC 3.4.11.6, aminopeptidase B). It also converts leukotriene A4 into leukotriene B4, unlike EC 3.3.2.10, soluble epoxide hydrolase, which converts leukotriene A4 into 5,6-dihydroxy-7,9,11,14-icosatetraenoic acid.
