| Alexidine dihydrochloride | Alexidine dihydrochloride is a potent and selective protein tyrosine phosphatase localized to the mitochondrion 1(PTPMT1) inhibitor with IC50 value of 1.08 μM in vitro. It induces apoptosis in cancer cell lines with ED50 value of 1.8-2.6 μM. It is an alkyl bis(biguanide) antiseptic and has been used in mouthwashes to eliminate plaque forming microorganisms. It binds to lipopolysaccharide and lipoteichoic acid, and inhibits fungal phospholipase B with IC50 value of 250 nM. It stimulates increased insulin secretion by isolated rat pancreatic islets and displays antitcancer properties in FaDu cells.
