Requires Ca2+. The enzyme from Thalassomonas sp. can use agarose, agarohexaose and neoagarohexaose as substrate. The products of agarohexaose hydrolysis are dimers and tetramers, with agarotetraose being the predominant product, whereas hydrolysis of neoagarohexaose gives rise to two types of trimer. While the enzyme can also hydrolyse the highly sulfated agarose porphyran very efficiently, it cannot hydrolyse the related compounds κ-carrageenan (see EC 3.2.1.83) and Ι-carrageenan (see EC 3.2.1.157). See also EC 3.2.1.81,β-agarase. Group: Enzymes. Synonyms: agarase (ambiguous); agaraseA33. Enzyme Commission Number: EC 3.2.1.158. CAS No. 63952-00-1. Storage: Store it at +4 ?C for short term. For long term storage, store it at -20 ?C?-80 ?C. Form: Liquid or lyophilized powder. EXWM-3841; α-agarase; EC 3.2.1.158; 63952-00-1; agarase (ambiguous); agaraseA33. Cat No: EXWM-3841.
Carrageenan
Carrageenan, when extracted from the appropriate seaweed source, is a yellow-brown to white colored, coarse to fine powder that is odorless and tasteless. Synonyms: Chondrus extract; E407; Gelcarin; Genu; Grindsted; Hygum TP-1; Irish moss extract; Marine Colloids; SeaSpen PF; Viscarin. Product ID: PE-0639. Category: Emulsifying Agents; Stabilizing Agents; Suspending Agents; Sustained-release Agents; Viscosity-increasing Agents. Product Keywords: Excipients for Liquid Dosage Form; Suspending Agents; PE-0639; Carrageenan; Emulsifying Agents; Stabilizing Agents; Suspending Agents; Sustained-release Agents; Viscosity-increasing Agents;. UNII: 5C69YCD2YJ. Grade: Pharmceutical Excipients. Stability and Storage Conditions: Carrageenan is a stable, though hygroscopic, polysaccharide and should be stored in a cool, dry place. Carrageenan in solution has maximum stability at pH 9 and should not be heat processed at pH values below 3.5. Acid and oxidizing agents may hydrolyze carrageenan in solution leading to loss of physical properties through cleavage of glycosidic bonds. Acid hydrolysis depends on pH, temperature and time. The acid hydrolysis takes place only when the carrageenan is dissolved, and the hydrolysis is accelerated as the processing temperature and/or the processing time is increased. However, when the carrageenan is in its gelled state the acid hydrolysis no longer takes place. Source and Preparation: The main spÂ…
Ι-carrageenase
The main products of hydrolysis are Ι-neocarratetraose sulfate and Ι-neocarrahexaose sulfate. Ι-Neocarraoctaose is the shortest substrate oligomer that can be cleaved. Unlike EC 3.2.1.81,β-agarase and EC 3.2.1.83, κ-carrageenase, this enzyme proceeds with inversion of the anomeric configuration. Ι-Carrageenan differs from κ-carrageenan by possessing a sulfo group on O-2 of the 3,6-anhydro-D-galactose residues, in addition to that present in the κ-compound on O-4 of the D-galactose residues. Group: Enzymes. Enzyme Commission Number: EC 3.2.1.157. CAS No. 50936-37-3. Storage: Store it at +4 ?C for short term. For long term storage, store it at -20 ?C?-80 ?C. Form: Liquid or lyophilized powder. EXWM-3840; Ι-carrageenase; EC 3.2.1.157; 50936-37-3. Cat No: EXWM-3840.
κ-carrageenase
The main products of hydrolysis are neocarrabiose-sulfate and neocarratetraose-sulfate. Unlike EC 3.2.1.157 (Ι-carrageenase), but similar to EC 3.2.1.81 (β-agarase), this enzyme proceeds with retention of the anomeric configuration. Group: Enzymes. Synonyms: κ-carrageenan 4-β-D-glycanohydrolase. Enzyme Commission Number: EC 3.2.1.83. CAS No. 37288-59-8. κ-carrageenase. Storage: Store it at +4 ?C for short term. For long term storage, store it at -20 ?C?-80 ?C. Form: Liquid or lyophilized powder. EXWM-3947; κ-carrageenase; EC 3.2.1.83; 37288-59-8; κ-carrageenan 4-β-D-glycanohydrolase. Cat No: EXWM-3947.
λ-carrageenase
The enzyme from Pseudoalteromonas sp. is specific for λ-carrageenan. Ι-Carrageenan (see EC 3.2.1.157, Ι-carrageenase), κ-carrageenan (see EC 3.2.1.83, κ-carrageenase), agarose and porphyran are not substrates. Group: Enzymes. Synonyms: endo-β-1,4-carrageenose 2,6,2'-trisulfate-hydrolase. Enzyme Commission Number: EC 3.2.1.162. Storage: Store it at +4 ?C for short term. For long term storage, store it at -20 ?C?-80 ?C. Form: Liquid or lyophilized powder. EXWM-3844; λ-carrageenase; EC 3.2.1.162; endo-β-1,4-carrageenose 2,6,2'-trisulfate-hydrolase. Cat No: EXWM-3844.
