Clostripain has a highly restricted substRate specificity for Arg-Xaa peptide bonds. Therefore, clostripain has been explored as a potential enzyme for protein sequencing purposes. It has also been studied as a catalyst for condensation of pharmaceutically important peptides containing Arg-Pro bonds.
