Naringenin The aglucon of naringin. Naringenin is a flavonoid that is considered to have a bioactive effect on human health as antioxidant, free radical scavenger, anti-inflammatory, carbohydrate metabolism promoter, and immune system modulator. It is the predominant flavanone in grapefruit. This substance has also been shown to reduce oxidative damage to DNA in vitro. Scientists exposed cells to 80 micromoles of naringenin per liter, for 24 hours, and found that the amount of hydroxyl damage to the DNA was reduced by 24% in that very short period of time.Naringenin found in grapefruit juice has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the human cytochrome P450 isoform CYP1A2, which can change pharmacokinetics in a human (or orthologous) host of several popular drugs in an adverse manner, even resulting in carcinogens of otherwise harmless substances.Naringenin has also been shown to reduce hepatitis C virus production by infected hepatocytes (liver cells) in cell culture. This seem to be secondary to Naringenin ability to inhibit the secretion of very-low-density lipoprotein by the cells.Naringenin seems to protect LDLR-deficient mice from the obesity effects of a high-fat diet.Naringenin lowers the plasma and hepatic cholesterol concentrations by suppressing HMG-CoA reductase and ACAT in rats fed a high-cholesterol diet. steroid 17α-monooxygenase Requires NADPH and EC 1.6.2.4, NADPH-hemoprotein reductase. A microsomal hemeprotein that catalyses two independent reactions at the same active site - the 17α-hydroxylation of pregnenolone and progesterone, which is part of glucocorticoid hormones biosynthesis, and the conversion of the 17α-hydroxylated products via a 17,20-lyase reaction to form androstenedione and dehydroepiandrosterone, leading to sex hormone biosynthesis (EC 4.1.2.30, 7α-hydroxyprogesterone aldolase). The ratio of the 17α-hydroxylase and 17,20-lyase activities is an important factor in determining the directions of steroid hormone biosynthesis towards biosynthesis of glucocorticoid or sex hormones. Sulfite oxidase from H. sapiens, Recombinant Sulfite oxidase (EC 1.8.3.1) is an enzyme in the mitochondria of all eukaryotes.[citation needed] It oxidizes sulfite to sulfate and, via cytochrome c, transfers the electrons produced to the electron transport chain, allowing generation of ATP in oxidative phosphorylation. This is the last step in the metabolism of sulfur-containing compounds and the sulfate is excreted. Sulfite oxidase is a metallo-enzyme that utilizes a molybdopterin cofactor and a heme group. It is one of the cytochromes b5 and belongs to the enzyme super-family of molybdenum oxotransferases that also includes DMSO reductase, xanthine oxidase, and nitrite reductase. Group: Enzymes. Synonyms: sulfite oxidase; EC 1.8.3.1; 9029-38-3. Enzyme Commission Number: EC 1.8.3.1. CAS No. 9029-38-3. Purity: >95 % as judged by SDS-PAGE. Sulfite Oxidase. Mole weight: approx. 50000 Da. Activity: 0.5 U/mg. Storage: Store at 4°C (shipped at room temperature). Form: Supplied in 3.2 M ammonium sulphate. Source: E. coli. Species: H. sapiens. sulfite oxidase; EC 1.8.3.1; 9029-38-3; Sulfite:oxygen oxidoreductase. Cat No: NATE-1229. Creative Enzymes
ubiquinol oxidase (electrogenic, non H+-transporting) This terminal oxidase enzyme is unable to pump protons but generates a proton motive force by transmembrane charge separation resulting from utilizing protons and electrons originating from opposite sides of the membrane to generate water. The bioenergetic efficiency (the number of charges driven across the membrane per electron used to reduce oxygen to water) is 1. The bd-I oxidase from the bacterium Escherichia coli is the predominant respiratory oxygen reductase that functions under microaerophilic conditions in that organism. cf. EC 1.10.3.10, ubiquinol oxidase (H+-transporting). Group: Enzymes. Synonyms: cytochrome bd-I oxidase; cydA (gene name); cydB (gene name); ubiquinol:O2 oxidoreductase (electrogenic, non H+-transporting). Enzyme Commission Number: EC 7.1.1.7 (Formerly EC 1.10.3.14). Storage: Store it at +4 ?C for short term. For long term storage, store it at -20 ?C?-80 ?C. Form: Liquid or lyophilized powder. vitamin D3 24-hydroxylase This mitochondrial cytochrome P-450 enzyme requires adrenodoxin. The enzyme can perform up to 6 rounds of hydroxylation of the substrate calcitriol leading to calcitroic acid. The human enzyme also shows 23-hydroxylating activity leading to 1,25 dihydroxyvitamin D3-26,23-lactone as end product while the mouse and rat enzymes do not. The initial source of the electrons is NADPH, which transfers the electrons to the adrenodoxin via EC 1.18.1.6, adrenodoxin-NADP+ reductase. Group: Enzymes. Synonyms: CYP24A1. Enzyme Commission Number: EC 1.14.15.16. Storage: Store it at +4 ?C for short term. For long term storage, store it at -20 ?C?-80 ?C. Form: Liquid or lyophilized powder. Xanthoxoline Xanthoxoline is an acidic chemical substance. It has been shown to have anti-cancer properties in vivo in animal models and cell cultures. Xanthoxoline inhibits the growth of leukemia cells by binding to DNA, preventing transcription and replication. The high frequency of human activity has been shown using a patch-clamp technique on human erythrocytes. This active form is metabolized through a number of metabolic transformations, including hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidases, oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, reduction by glutathione reductase, or conjugation with glucuronic acid. Xanthoxoline also specifically binds to markers expressed at high levels in Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains (e.g., ESX-1 secretion system protein) and inhibits cell growth in culture.br>br>. Group: Other alkaloids. CAS No. 17014-43-6. Molecular formula: C15H13NO4. Mole weight: 271.27 g/mol. Canonical SMILES: COC1=C (C (=C2C (=C1)NC3=CC=CC=C3C2=O)O)OC. Catalog: ACM17014436.
