| Mezlocillin | Mezlocillin is a broad-spectrum, beta-lactam penicillin antibiotic with antibacterial activity. It belongs semisynthetic ampicillin-derived acylureido penicillin. It is active against both Gram-negative and some Gram-positive bacteria. It inhibits the third and last stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall. It has been proposed for infections with certain anaerobes and may be useful in inner ear, bile, and CNS infections.
