| Stearidonic acid | Stearidonic acid (6Z,9Z,12Z,15Z-Octadecatetraenoic acid) is an intermediate fatty acid in the biosynthetic pathway from α-linolenic acid to VLC ω-3 PUFA. The conversion efficiency of stearidonic acid is higher than that of alpha-linolenic acid. Increasing the intake of stearidonic acid can increase the content of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) in red blood cells.
