A semi-synthetic analogue of ostreogrycin A (virginiamycin M, pristinamycin IIA, streptogramin A) formed by addition of diethylaminoethylthiol to the 2-pyrroline group of ostreogrycin, followed by oxidation to the sulphone. The structural changes provide a more hydrophobic compound with a readily ionisable group for generating a salt. Dalfopristin is used commercially in synergistic combination with quinupristin (70:30). There is little published data on the synthesis, biological or antibiotic activity of dalfopristin alone, however the combination product is highly effective, including activity against antibiotic resistant strains. Synonyms: Dalfopristinum. Grades: >98% by HPLC. CAS No. 112362-50-2. Molecular formula: C34H50N4O9S. Mole weight: 690.85.
Dalfopristin (RP54476) is a semisynthetic sulfone antibiotic. Dalfopristin alone has limited antibacterial activity, but synergistically with Quinupristin it has significant bactericidal activity against many pathogenic Gram-positive cocci [1]. Uses: Scientific research. Group: Signaling pathways. Alternative Names: RP54476. CAS No. 112362-50-2. Pack Sizes: 1 mg; 5 mg; 10 mg. Product ID: HY-A0241.

Quinupristin-Dalfopristin complex
Quinupristin-dalfopristin complex is a 70:30 (w/w) complex of two semi-synthetic Streptomycin antibiotic. It is a highly effective antibiotic with activity against resistant strains. Synonyms: Synercid complex; Dalfopristin-Quinupristin complex; RP 59500; 4-[4-(dimethylamino)-N-methyl-L-phenylalanine]-5-[(2S)-5-[(1-azabicyclo[2.2.2]oct-3-ylthio)methyl]-4-oxo-2-piperidinecarboxylic acid]-virginiamycin S1 mixture with (3R, 4R, 5E, 10E, 12E, 14S, 26R, 26aS)-26-[[2-(diethylamino)ethyl]sulfonyl]-8, 9, 14, 15, 24, 25, 26, 26a-octahydro-14-hydroxy-4, 12-dimethyl-3-(1-methylethyl)-3H-21, 18-nitrilo-1H, 22H-pyrrolo[2, 1-c][1, 8, 4, 19]dioxadiazacyclotetracosine-1, 7, 16, 22(4H, 17H)-tetrone. Quinupristin
Quinupristin is an antibiotic and usually used in combination with dalfopristin (The trade name is Synercid). It is active against Gram-positive bacteria through inhibiting protein synthesis of the cells, but not active against Gram-negative bacteria, so it needs to be given in combination with other antibacterials for mixed infections which also involve Gram-negative organisms. Uses: Semisynthetic depsipeptide type i streptogramin. an antibacterial agent. Synonyms: N-((6R, 9S, 10R, 13S, 15aS, 18R, 22S, 24aS)-22-(4-(dimethylamino)benzyl)-6-ethyl-10, 23-dimethyl-5, 8, 12, 15, 17, 21, 24-heptaoxo-13-phenyl-18-((((S)-quinuclidin-3-yl)thio)methyl)docosahydro-12H-pyrido[2, 1-f]pyrrolo[2, 1-l][1]oxa[4, 7, 10, 13, 16]pentaazacyclononadecin-9-yl)-3-hydroxypicolinamide; RP68888; RP57669; Antibiotic RP 57669; 4-[4-(Dimethylamino)-N-methyl-L-phenylalanine]-5-[(2S,5R)-5-[[[(3S)-1-azabicyclo[2.2.2]oct-3-yl]thio]methyl]-4-oxo-2-piperidine carboxylic acid] Virginiamycin S1.
