Ostreogrycin A (Mikamycin A, Pristinamycin IIA, Stephylomycin M1, Streptogramin A, Syncothrecin A, Synergistin A1, Virginiamycin M1, Vernamycin A, Antibiotic 14752-2, Antibiotic E129A, Antibiotic PA 114A, Antibiotic 1745Z3A, Antibiotic 547C, Factor M)
Ostreogrycin A also commonly referred to as virginiamycin M1 or streptogramin A is the major component of the "virginamycin complex". In the 1950s this complex was independently discovered so many times the literature became highly confusing. Ostreogrycin A is a macrocyclic lactone antibiotic that acts syngeristically with the structurally unrelated cyclic depsipeptides more commonly known as the virginiamycins B (ostreogrycin B or streptogramin B) and S to inhibit peptide elongation. This is achieved by blocking formation of a peptide bond between the growing peptide chain (peptidyl-tRNA) linked to the 50S ribosome and aminoacyl-tRNA. Ostreogrycin A has proven to be highly active against Gram positive bacteria, particularly methicillin-resistant S. aureus. Group: Biochemicals. Alternative Names: Mikamycin A, Pristinamycin IIA, Stephylomycin M1, Streptogramin A, Syncothrecin A, Synergistin A1, Virginiamycin M1, Vernamycin A, Antibiotic 14752-2, Antibiotic E129A, Antibiotic PA 114A, Antibiotic 1745Z3A, Antibiotic 547C, Factor M. Grades: Highly Purified. CAS No. 21411-53-0. Pack Sizes: 5mg. US Biological Life Sciences.

Dalfopristin
A semi-synthetic analogue of ostreogrycin A (virginiamycin M, pristinamycin IIA, streptogramin A) formed by addition of diethylaminoethylthiol to the 2-pyrroline group of ostreogrycin, followed by oxidation to the sulphone. The structural changes provide a more hydrophobic compound with a readily ionisable group for generating a salt. Dalfopristin is used commercially in synergistic combination with quinupristin (70:30). There is little published data on the synthesis, biological or antibiotic activity of dalfopristin alone, however the combination product is highly effective, including activity against antibiotic resistant strains. Synonyms: Dalfopristinum. Grades: >98% by HPLC. CAS No. 112362-50-2. Molecular formula: C34H50N4O9S. Mole weight: 690.85.
L-lysine cyclodeaminase
Requires bound NAD+. The enzyme produces the non-proteinogenic amino acid L-pipecolate, which is incorporated into multiple secondary metabolite products, including rapamycin, tobulysin, virginiamycin and pristinamycin. Group: Enzymes. Synonyms: rapL (gene name); fkbL (gene name); tubZ (gene name); visC (gene name). Enzyme Commission Number: EC 4.3.1.28. Storage: Store it at +4 ?C for short term. For long term storage, store it at -20 ?C?-80 ?C. Form: Liquid or lyophilized powder. Virginiamycin Complex
Virginiamycin complex is defined as a mixture of 75% virginamycin M1 (ostreogrycin A) and 25% virginiamycin S1 and the less abundant S analogs. As the two major components have quite different solubilities these proportions are not readily achieved or used. The individual components are isolated and re-combined to provide the defined components of virginiamycin complex. The structure composition of the complex is important as Virginiamycin S1 acts a synergist, binding to the conformational change of the peptidyl transferase center of the 50S ribosome induced by ostreogrycin A. Group: Biochemicals. Alternative Names: Cebin V, Eskalin V, Eskamicin, Stafac, Stephylomycin, Mikamycin, Ostreogrycin, Patricin, Pristinamycin, Streptogramin, Vernamycin. Grades: Highly Purified. CAS No. 11006-76-1. Pack Sizes: 5mg. US Biological Life Sciences.
