Carbimazole
Carbimazole is an orally active antithyroid agent which rapidly converts to Methimazole after absorption and prevents thyroid peroxidase enzyme from iodinating and coupling the tyrosine residues on thyroglobulin, hence reducing the production of thyroxine. Carbimazole also displays anti-inflammatory and neuronal-protective activities, suggesting its application for hyperthyroidism and neurological research [1] [2] [3]. Uses: Scientific research. Group: Signaling pathways. CAS No. 22232-54-8. Pack Sizes: 10 mM * 1 mL; 500 mg; 1 g. Product ID: HY-B0558.
Carbimazole
Carbimazole is used to treat hyperthyroidism. Carbimazole is a pro-drug as after absorption it is converted to the active form, methimazole. Methimazole prevents thyroid peroxidase enzyme from coupling and iodinating the tyrosine residues on thyroglobulin, hence reducing the production of the thyroid hormones T3 and T4. Synonyms: Carbimazole. Grades: >98%. CAS No. 22232-54-8. Molecular formula: C7H10N2O2S. Mole weight: 186.23.
D-Thyroxine
D-Thyroxine is the dextrorotary isomer of thyroxine with antihyperlipidemic activity. It stimulates the formation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and increases the catabolism of LDL thereby leading to increased excretion of cholesterol and bile acids via the biliary route. It is released from thyroglobulin by proteolysis and secreted into the blood. It is one of the thyroid hormones involved in the maintenance of metabolic homeostasis and has been used to treat hyperlipidemia. It is used as an cholesterol-lowering drug but was pulled due to cardiac side-effects. It also increases hepatic lipase which in turn improves utilization of triglycerides, improving apolipoprotein E cholesterol particles. Uses: D-thyroxin is one of the thyroid hormones involved in the maintenance of metabolic homeostasis and has been used to treat hyperlipidemia. it is used as an cholesterol-lowering drug. Synonyms: Dextrothyroxine; Choloxin; Dextrothyroxinum; (R)-2-Amino-3-(4-(4-hydroxy-3,5-diiodophenoxy)-3,5-diiodophenyl)propanoic acid; Biotirmone; Debetrol; D-T4; O-(4-hydroxy-3,5-diiodophenyl)-3,5-diiodo-D-tyrosine. One of the thyroid hormones involved in the maintenance of metabolic homeostasis. Synthesized and stored as amino acid residues of thyroglobulin, the major protein component of the thyroid follicular colloid. Synthesis and secretion are regulated by the pituitary hormone (TSH). Deiodinated in peripheral tissues to the active metabolite, liothyronine. The D-form has very little activity as a thyroid hormone, but has been used to treat hyperlipidemia. Group: Biochemicals. Grades: Highly Purified. CAS No. 51-49-0. Pack Sizes: 10mg. US Biological Life Sciences.

iodide peroxidase
Thyroid peroxidase catalyses the biosynthesis of the thyroid hormones L-thyroxine and triiodo-L-thyronine. It catalyses both the iodination of tyrosine residues in thyroglobulin (forming mono- and di-iodinated forms) and their coupling to form either L-thyroxine or triiodo-L-thyronine. Group: Enzymes. Synonyms: thyroid peroxidase; iodotyrosine deiodase; iodinase; iodoperoxidase (heme type); iodide peroxidase-tyrosine iodinase; iodotyrosine deiodinase; monoiodotyrosine deiodinase; thyroperoxidase; tyrosine iodinase; TPO. Enzyme Commission Number: EC 1.11.1.8. CAS No. 9031-28-1. Storage: Store it at +4 ?C for short term. For long term storage, store it at -20 ?C?-80 ?C. Form: Liquid or lyophilized powder. L-Thyroxine sodium salt pentahydrate
L-Thyroxine sodium salt pentahydrate is an iodine containing hormone produced from thyroglobulin in the thyroid follicular cells. It reduces total cholesterol level, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol as well as waist to hip ratio in subclinical hypothyroidism pateints. It was also used to study the light-induced hormone conversion of T4 to T3 in regulation of photoperiodic response of gonads in Japanese quail. Synonyms: Sodium levothyroxine pentahydrate. Propylthiouracil
Propylthiouracil is a thyroperoxidase and 5'-deiodinase inhibitor. It is a thiouracil-derived drug used to treat hyperthyroidism (including Graves' disease) by decreasing the amount of thyroid hormone produced by the thyroid gland. Besides, propylthiouracil inhibits the enzyme thyroperoxidase, which normally acts in thyroid hormone synthesis by oxidizing the anion iodide (I-) to iodine (I0), facilitating iodine's addition to tyrosine residues on the hormone precursor thyroglobulin. But propylthiouracil does not inhibit the action of the sodium-dependent iodide transporter located on follicular cells' basolateral membranes. Uses: Antimetabolites, antithyroid agents. Thyroid Peroxidase from Human, Recombinant
Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) represents one of the main autoantigenic targets in autoimmune thyroid disease of humans. Its identity with the formerly so-called "microsomal antigen" has been shown several years ago. As an integral membrane glycoprotein it is restricted to the apical plasma membrane of the follicular epithelial cells and comprises two identical subunits of approx. 100 kDa molecular weight. The hemoprotein TPO plays a key role in the thyroid hormone biosynthesis by catalysing both the iodination of tyrosyl residues and the coupling of iodotyrosyl residues in thyroglobulin (TG) to form precursors of the thyroid hormones T4 and T3.
