Taurine, a sulphur-containing amino acid and an organic osmolyte involved in cell volume regulation, provides a substrate for the formation of bile salts, and plays a role in the modulation of intracellular free calcium concentration. Taurine has the ability to activate autophagy in adipocytes [1] [2] [3]. Uses: Scientific research. Group: Natural products. Alternative Names: 2-Aminoethanesulfonic acid. CAS No. 107-35-7. Pack Sizes: 10 mM * 1 mL; 500 mg; 1 g; 5 g. Product ID: HY-B0351.
Taurine
Taurine is an organic acid found in animal tissues and is a major constituent of bile. Taurine has many biological roles such as conjugation of bile acids, antioxidation, osmoregulation, membrane stabilization and modulation of calcium signaling.Taurine is a biological buffer (zwitterionic) designed by Good, et al., and typically referred to as Goods buffer useful in cell culture media formulations. Selection of biological buffer systems should include the following criteria: exclusion by biological membranes, low absorption between 240 and 700nm, chemically stable, and stable to temperature and concentration changes. Group: Biochemicals. Alternative Names: 1-Aminoethane-2-sulfonic Acid; 2-Aminoethanesulfonic Acid; 2-Aminoethylsulfonic Acid; 2-Sulfoethylamine; NSC 32428; O-Due; Taufon; Taukard; Tauphon; β-Aminoethylsulfonic Acid. Taurine dioxygenase (TauD) is a Fe(II) and α-ketoglutaric aciddependent dioxygenase, which enables E.coli to use taurine as a sulfur source. The oligomeric state of the enzyme from E.coli is reported both as a dimer and tetramer. It contains a 2-His, 1- carboxylate facial triad, which is present in most members of the family of Fe(II)/ α-KG-dependent enzymes. TauD catalyzes the conversion of the amino acid taurine (2-aminoethane-1-sulfonic acid) to sulfite and aminoacetaldehyde. Group: Enzymes. Synonyms: TauD; 2-aminoethanesulfonate dioxygenase; Sulfate starvation-induced protein 3; SSI3; alpha-ketoglutarate-dependent taurine dioxygenase. Enzyme Commission Number: EC 1.14.11.17. Purity: > 90% by SDS-PAGE. Mole weight: 34.3 kDa, His tagged. Activity: >170 mU/mg. Storage: Aliquot and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Form: Liquid. Source: E. coli.
