| Deserpidine | Deserpidine is an antihypertensive drug related to Reserpine. It is naturally found in Rauvolfia spp. Deserpidine is a competitive ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme) inhibitor. Deserpidine can block the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II as a potent vasoconstrictor through competing with angiotensin I for ACE. Reduced level of serum angiotensin II leads to a decrease in blood pressure. Deserpidine can also decrease angiotensin II-induced aldosterone secretion by the adrenal cortex.
