Chloramphenicol
Chloramphenicol is a chlorine-containing antibiotic produced by Streptomyces venezuelae. It has a wide spectrum of activity against gram-positive and gram-negative cocci and bacilli (including anaerobes), Rickettsia, Mycoplasma, and Chlamydia. It inhibits prokaryotic protein synthesis by attaching to the 50S ribosomal subunit. This inhibits peptidyltransferase, thereby preventing the formation of peptide bonds. It also inhibits protein synthesis in mitochondria which accounts for its toxic effects that cause aplastic anemia. Chloramphenicol has other adverse effects such as bone marrow depression, and gray baby syndrome. Its use is limited to serious infections such as those where resistance to other antibiotics occurs. It is still widely used in the treatment of typhoid fever, meningitis and eye infections. Group: Biochemicals. chloride peroxidase
Brings about the chlorination of a range of organic molecules, forming stable C-Cl bonds. Also oxidizes bromide and iodide. Enzymes of this type are either heme-thiolate proteins, or contain vanadate. A secreted enzyme produced by the ascomycetous fungus Caldariomyces fumago (Leptoxyphium fumago) is an example of the heme-thiolate type. It catalyses the production of hypochlorous acid by transferring one oxygen atom from H2O2 to chloride. At a separate site it catalyses the chlorination of activated aliphatic and aromatic substrates, via HClO and derived chlorine species. In the absence of halides, it shows peroxidase (e.g. phenol oxidation) and peroxygenase activities. The latter ...peroxidase, and is related to bromide peroxidase (EC 1.11.1.18). It contains vanadate and oxidizes chloride, bromide and iodide into hypohalous acids. In the absence of halides, it peroxygenates organic sulfides and oxidizes ABTS [2,2'-azinobis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid)] but no phenols. Group: Enzymes. Synonyms: chloroperoxidase; CPO; vanadium haloperoxidase. Enzyme Commission Number: EC 1.11.1.10. CAS No. 9055-20-3. CPO. Storage: Store it at +4 ?C for short term. Chloromethyl Polystyrene
The Merrifield resin has in the past been the standard support for the synthesis of peptide acids by Boc strategy. Originally, the cesium salt of a protected amino acid was anchored to the chloromethyl support via nucleophilic displacement of chlorine. Although, Me4N salts, sodium salts in THF with Bu4NF catalysis and more recently zinc salts in EtOH have also been used. Cleavage is normally effected by treatment with HF or trifluoromethanesulfonic acid or by hydrogenolysis, alcohols can be released by using diisobutylaluminium hydride or LiBH4. For cleavage scavengers may be required. Uses: New isomeric trialkoxybenzylamine resins have been developed by coupling phthalimidomethyl-3,5-dimethoxyphenols to this resin followed by subsequent treatment with hydrazine, which allows dcc coupling with the carboxyl function of amino acids or peptides. the addition of alcohols can be performed by heating the corresponding potassium or sodium alkoxide and the resin in dmf. reductive cleavage of. Group: Merrifield resins. Alternative Names: Merrifield Resin. CAS No. 55844-94-5. Pack Sizes: 25g, 100g.

Chromium(III) chloride
Chromium(III) chloride at elevated termperatures decomposes to chromium( II) chloride and chlorine: 2CrCl3→2CrCl2 + Cl2 Heating with excess chlorine produces vapors of chromium(IV) chloride, CrCl4. The tetrahedral tetrachloride is unstable, and occurs only in vapor phase. When heated with hydrogen, it is reduced to chromium(II) chloride with the formation of hydrogen chloride: 2CrCl3 + H2→2CrCl2 + 2HCl Chromium(III) chloride has very low solubility in pure water. However, it readily dissolves in the presence of Cr2+ ion. Reducing agents such as SnCl2 can "solubilize" CrCl3 in water. It forms adducts with many donor ligands. For example, with tetrahydrofuran (THF) in the presence of zinc, it forms the violet crystals of the complex CrCl3 3THF. Group: Metal & ceramic materials. Alternative Names: Chromium(III) trichloride. CAS No. 10025-73-7. Molecular formula: CrCl3. Mole weight: 158.35. Appearance: Violet flakes. Purity: 99%+. IUPACName: Trichlorochromium. Canonical SMILES: Cl[Cr](Cl)Cl. Density: 2.87 g/mL at 25 °C (lit.). ECNumber: 256-852-0. Catalog: ACM10025737.
