Coffee Arabica Extract Derived from the fruit portion of the Coffea arabica plant, this ingredient is a very good antioxidant when applied to skin (and consumed orally in the popular beverage coffee). Among other antioxidants, coffee is a rich source of ferulic acid. Arabica contains almost 60% more lipids and almost twice the amount of sugar. These play an important part in not only the flavor, but the aroma and body of the coffee. Arabica beans taste better because the increase in sugar gives the coffee a better taste, a cleaner mouthfeel, and a decrease in bitterness. The main constituents of coffee are caffeine, tannin, fixed oil, carbohydrates, and proteins. It contains 2-3% caffeine, 3-5% tannins, 13% proteins, and 10-15% fixed oils.
