3β-Cholic Acid
3β-Cholic Acid is a primary bile acid that plays a crucial role in the digestion and absorption of dietary fats. It is synthesized in the liver from cholesterol and is secreted into the intestine as part of bile. Cholic acid emulsifies fats, breaking them down into smaller droplets, which increases the surface area for digestive enzymes to act upon. This process is essential for the efficient absorption of fats and fat-soluble vitamins. Additionally, cholic acid is involved in the regulation of cholesterol metabolism and has been studied for its potential role in various metabolic processes. Uses: Possible progesterone metabolite. bile acid CoA-transferase
The enzyme, characterized from the gut bacterium Clostridium scindens, catalyses the last step in bile acid 7α-dehydroxylation, the removal of the CoA moiety from the products. By using a transferase rather than hydrolase, the bacteria conserve the thioester bond energy, saving ATP molecules. Clostridium scindens possesses two forms of the enzyme, encoded by the baiF and baiK genes. While the enzymes have a broad acceptor specificity and can use allocholate, ursodeoxycholate, and β-muricholate, the donor specificity is more strict. BaiF acts on lithocholoyl-CoA and deoxycholoyl-CoA, and BaiK acts only on the latter. Group: Enzymes. Synonyms: baiF (gene name); baiK (gene name); bile acid coenzyme A transferase. Enzyme Commission Number: EC 2.8.3.25. Storage: Store it at +4 ?C for short term. For long term storage, store it at -20 ?C?-80 ?C. Form: Liquid or lyophilized powder. EXWM-3421; bile acid CoA-transferase; EC 2.8.3.25; baiF (gene name); baiK (gene name); bile acid coenzyme A transferase. Cat No: EXWM-3421.
glycochenodeoxycholate sulfotransferase
The enzyme specifically sulfates glycochenodeoxycholate at the 7α-position (see also EC 2.8.2.14 bile-salt sulfotransferase). The monohydroxy bile acids glycolithocholate, chenodeoxycholate and ursodeoxycholate act as inhibitors. Group: Enzymes. Synonyms: bile acid:3'-phosphoadenosine-5'-phosphosulfate sulfotransferase; bile acid:PAPS:sulfotransferase; BAST. Enzyme Commission Number: EC 2.8.2.34. CAS No. 72668-90-7. Storage: Store it at +4 ?C for short term. For long term storage, store it at -20 ?C?-80 ?C. Form: Liquid or lyophilized powder. EXWM-3394; glycochenodeoxycholate sulfotransferase; EC 2.8.2.34; 72668-90-7; bile acid:3'-phosphoadenosine-5'-phosphosulfate sulfotransferase; bile acid:PAPS:sulfotransferase; BAST. Cat No: EXWM-3394.
