1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate deaminase A pyridoxal 5'-phosphate enzyme. The enzyme, found in certain soil bacteria and fungi, catalyses the ring opening of 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate, the immediate precursor to ethylene, an important plant hormone that regulates fruit ripening and other processes. The enzyme releases an unstable enamine product that tautomerizes to an imine form, which undergoes a hydrolytic deamination. The latter reaction, which can occur spontaneously, can also be catalysed by EC 3.5.99.10, 2-iminobutanoate/2-iminopropanoate deaminase. The enzyme has been used to make fruit ripening dependent on externally added ethylene, as it removes the substrate for endogenous ethylene formation. Group: Enzymes. Synonyms: 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate endolyase (deaminating); ACC deaminase; 1-aminocyclopropane carboxylic acid deaminase. Enzyme Commission Number: EC 3.5.99.7. CAS No. 69553-48-6. Alanine Racemase (Crude Enzyme) This enzyme belongs to the family of isomerases, specifically those racemases and epimerases acting on amino acids and derivatives. This enzyme participates in alanine and aspartatemetabolism and D-alanine metabolism. It employs one cofactor, pyridoxal phosphate. At least two compounds, 3-Fluoro-D-alanine and D-Cycloserine are known to inhibit this enzyme. The D-alanine produced by alanine racemase is used for peptidoglycan biosynthesis. Peptidoglycan is found in the cell walls of all bacteria, including many which are harmful to humans. The enzyme is absent in higher eukaryotes but found everywhere in prokaryotes, making alanine racemase a great target for antimicrobial drug...udies have shown that without the alr gene being expressed, the bacteria would need an external source of D-alanine in order to survive. Therefore, the alr gene is a feasible target for antimicrobial drugs. This product with the indicated enzyme activity was briefly purified from engineered E. coli. Applications: Drug development; pharmacology; medicine; pharmacology. Group: Enzymes. Synonyms: L-alanine racemase. Enzyme Commission Number: EC 5.1.1.1. CAS No. 9024-06-0. Alanine Racemase. Aminooxyacetic Acid Aminooxyacetic acid, often abbreviated AOA or AOAA, is a GABA transaminase (GABA-T) inhibitor (Ki = 9.16 μM) that inhibits 4-aminobutyrate aminotransferase (GABA-T) activity in vitro and in vivo, leading to less gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) being broken down. Subsequently, the level of GABA is increased in tissues. At concentrations high enough to fully inhibit 4-aminobutyrate aminotransferase activity, aminooxyacetic acid is indicated as a useful tool to study regional GABA turnover in rats. AOAA is also an inhibitor of pyridoxal phosphate (PLP)-dependent enzymes, which serve as an inhibitor by attacking the Schiff base linkage between PLP and the enzyme, forming oxime type complexes. Uses: Gaba agents. Synonyms: Aminooxyacetate; AOAA; 2-Aminooxyacetic acid; U 7524; U7524; U-7524. Grades: ≥95%. CAS No. 645-88-5. Molecular formula: C2H5NO3. Mole weight: 91.07. BOC Sciences 2

Aspartate Transaminase (Crude Enzyme) (AST) or aspartate aminotransferase, also known as AspAT/ASAT/AAT or serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase(SGOT), is a pyridoxal phosphate (PLP)-dependent transaminase enzyme (EC 2. 6. 1. 1) that was first described by Arthur Karmen and colleagues in 1954. AST is found in the liver, heart, skeletal muscle, kidneys, brain, and red blood cells. Serum AST level, serum ALT (alanine transaminase) level, and their ratio (AST/ALT ratio) are commonly measured clinically as biomarkers for liver health. The tests are part of blood panels. Native Human Aspartate Aminotransferase Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST), also known as Glutamate Oxaloacetate Transaminase (GOT), is a pyridoxal phosphate-dependant enzyme which exists in two isoenzymes; mitochondrial and cytosolic forms. The AST enzyme plays an important role in amino acid metabolism and in the urea and tricarboxylic acid cycles. In liver about 80% of the enzyme activity is mitochondrial in origin, whereas in serum the enzyme activity is largely cytosolic. In hepatic disease, serum levels are used to assess liver necrosis and for determining prognosis. In patients with acute Myocardial infarction, measurement of AST isoenzymes provides diagnostic information that differs from that obtained by determination of other marker proteins.
